AMR Air Ambulance and AirMed UK sign MoU
AMR Air Ambulance of the US and AirMed UK have announced they have made a collaborative agreement to give their respective clients access to a broader geographical range.
Fixed-wing providers AMR Air Ambulance of the US and AirMed UK have announced they have made a collaborative agreement that will enable their respective clients to have access to a broader geographical range for air medical transportation. The new memorandum of understanding (MoU) allows both companies to arrange and co-ordinate air medical services in a more efficient and time-critical manner around the world, said the firms.
Jay Paladino, director of AMR Air Ambulance, said: “As one of the leading companies that arranges and co-ordinates air ambulance services in the US and Canada, it is important for us to serve our customers around the world in a timely manner. By collaborating with AirMed UK, the new agreement means we will reduce our response by nearly 50 per cent for some clients in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Our MoU with AirMed enables us to work closely together to find the best solution for the patient and for our clients.”
The companies explained that the MoU gives structure to a working arrangement where either company can use the others’ services to arrange for and co-ordinate air medical services. AirMed’s business development director Jane Topliss said: “We are regularly approached for the long-range transfer of patients between the Americas and the rest of the world. By having a good working relationship with a company who is able to work alongside us that has a similar approach to quality and aeromedical training, means that we can provide a timely and effective solution.”
The MoU is a non-exclusive agreement, so that each party may work for other air ambulance companies. This is to ensure that the patient’s best interests are always at the heart of any decision, said the firms.
Patients and customers will now have access to a fleet of 12 Learjets, 6 turbojets and 1 Challenger 601. The companies described the combined air ambulance fleet as one of the largest in the world.
