EMERCOM aircraft work in Angara area
The Russian Emergency Control Ministry reported on 25 May that its aircraft were working putting out wildfires in the Irkutsk District.
The Russian Emergency Control Ministry (EMERCOM) reported on 25 May that its aircraft were working putting out wildfires in the Irkutsk District. At that time, an Mi-8 helicopter from EMERCOM’s Siberian Regional Center dispatched to engage in fire spotting and waterbombing had already carried out 25 flights. Spending more than four hours in the air, the helicopter dropped around 75 tonnes of water.
EMERCOM’s local ground firefighting team was reinforced by 100 personnel and nine specialised vehicles to assist in extinguishing the wildfires and protecting settlements.
With a total fire ban in place, advice was issued to the public to promote fire safety.
