Helipad fire system tested
Representatives from Australia’s RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service witnessed the Rockhampton Base Hospital rooftop helipad Fire Deluge System testing on 25 June.
Representatives from Australia’s RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and the Rockhampton Base Hospital witnessed the rooftop helipad fire into action, during a serious of testings on the Fire Deluge System on 25 June. RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service spokesperson Kirsty Wooler explained: “There are a number of devices positioned around the helipad that will detect a fire instantaneously and will activate the response system. RACQ CAPRICORN RESCUE has been working closely with the project team and the Rockhampton Hospital to ensure that safety continues to be the number one priority.” In the event of a fire, sprinkler heads positioned around the parameter of the landing site eject 4,000 litres (1,000 gallons) of water per minute.
