UK CAA approves white phosphor NVGs
ASU and SAS have announced their receipt of approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority for the use of white phosphor night vision goggles on the MD 902 Explorer helicopter.
Aviation Specialties Unlimited Inc. (ASU) of Idaho, USA and UK-based operator and support organisation Specialist Aviation Services Ltd (SAS) have announced their receipt of approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for the use of white phosphor night vision goggles (NVGs) on the MD 902 Explorer helicopter.
“This is the first CAA approval that grants the use of white phosphor NVGs in the United Kingdom, (UK)” said ASU President Jim Winkel. “As more UK operators continue to experience the quality, clarity and definition of these goggles, we anticipate that demand will continue to increase. Obtaining this first authorisation is a big step towards advancing the safety of night operation and making white phosphor goggles more readily available for UK flight operations.”
