Montana, US-based Two Bear Air Rescue recently assisted the Flathead County Sheriff's Office with the recovery of an avalanche victim.
Thirty-three-year-old Geoffrey Richard Caldbeck of Kila was snowmobiling with friends on 23 January. They were caught in an avalanche in the Swede Creek area of the Whitefish Mountain Range. Another man was buried by the slide and was able to extricate himself, but Caldbeck was trapped underneath the snow and died.
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said Caldbeck’s body was recovered quickly using the Two Bear Air helicopter, adding that it is an ‘amazing resource’ for the office.
