Irish Air Corps completes 100th mission of 2014
On 15 November, an Irish Air Corps fixed-wing CASA CN235 aircraft, callsign Irish 253, transported a patient from Dublin’s Casement Aerodrome to Heathrow Airport in London, marking the Air Corps’ 100th air ambulance mission of 2014.
On 15 November, an Irish Air Corps fixed-wing CASA CN235 aircraft, callsign Irish 253, transported a patient from Dublin’s Casement Aerodrome to Heathrow Airport in London, marking the Air Corps’ 100th air ambulance mission of 2014. The plane launched at 17:30 hrs and landed at Heathrow at 19:00 hrs, where the young patient was transferred to a National Health Service (NHS) ground ambulance to continue their journey to hospital by road.
This year has seen the Air Corps carry out large numbers of both national and international transfers, with its fixed-wing and rotary assets often deployed at the same time and carrying out multiple missions in different locations. It has dedicated crews on standby 24/7.
