ADAC air rescue enhances night services with NVGs
Germany-based ADAC Luftrettung pilots are now using night vision goggles (NVGs) for emergency air medical operations during the night
Germany-based air medical service ADAC Luftrettung pilots are now using night vision goggles (NVGs) for emergency operations during the night – previously, these have only been used for secondary flights; ie. When transferring a patient from one hospital to another. “With emergency operations at night, we open a new chapter of the air rescue service,” said Frédéric Bruder, CEO of ADAC Luftrettung. “With this, regardless of place of residence and time of day, emergency medical care in the region improves significantly.”
The first night-time emergency flight has already taken place, with the crew responding to a call for help from a victim suffering from life-threatening bleeding about 80 km south of Berlin. The helicopter landed at an unlit site with the NVGs.
