Air ambulance and medical escort awards nominations call

The International Travel and Health Insurance Journal (ITIJ) has opened nominations for its 2017 Industry Awards, which include categories for air ambulance and medical escort providers.Nominations for the Air Ambulance Company of the Year award are limited to companies that own or operate air ambulance fixed-wing aircraft. The Medical Provider category is open to any who offer medical services to the travel and health insurance industry, including those providing medical escorts on aircraft, clinics and hospitals. Mandy Langfield, title editor of ITIJ, said that the new nominations process that allows companies to promote their own services has been introduced to open the awards up to a wider audience. She added: “The ITIJ Industry Awards are about rewarding the companies that don’t often get the recognition they most certainly deserve, and that’s why it’s important that we hold the ceremony every year. It gives the travel and health insurers, and the companies that support them, an opportunity to show how important their roles are – assisting travellers when they need it most.” The awards will be presented at the International Travel and Health Insurance Conference in Barcelona, Spain, on 9 November. The 2016 Air Ambulance Provider of the Year award went to European Air Ambulance, which won out against fellow finalists AMREF Flying Doctors, REVA Air Ambulance and Skyservice Air Ambulance. Jackson Memorial was named as Medical Provider of the Year, beating runners-up Commercial Medical Escorts and Sharp HealthCare.
