Airbus Helicopters is now fully operational as the aircraft service provider for the UK’s Military Flying Training System (MFTS). Earlier this year, it delivered 29 Helionix-equipped H135s and three Helionix, hoist-equipped H145s, marking the end of the delivery phase of the MFTS contract; then, on 2 October, it completed its service provision build up and is now officially fully embedded at RAF Shawbury and RAF Valley bases, where it will be supporting the delivery of Ascent Training through brand new, fully modernised facilities.
Back on 1 April this year, the exact date of the RAF Centenary, Ascent and the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) officially confirmed that Airbus was ready for training use for the rotary-wing element of the MFTS; the MoD is reportedly pleased with Airbus’ rapid progress, having progressed from the initial signing of the contract through to training readiness in just under two years.
