Allianz Global Assistance, a provider of emergency assistance and insurance, today came onboard as a major sponsor of Australian aeromedical charity CareFlight Ltd. Sporting its new Allianz Global Assistance livery, a  helicopter was unveiled by CareFlight chief executive officer Derek Colenbrander at the charity’s Westmead base in Sydney. Allianz Global Assistance will also provide funding and sponsorship for CareFlight’s MediSim Crash Car and community awareness campaigns.

Mr Colenbrander said: “CareFlight is delighted to have such a like-minded, operationally and culturally aligned organisation as a major sponsor. Remarkably, our two organisations were both founded by doctors who saw a need for better remote medical retrieval services in the 1980s, and today we are both realising our founders’ visions by providing expert emergency medical assistance and by saving lives.”

Allianz Global Assistance general manager, market management, Catherine McGrath said the company was proud to be able to help one of Australia’s most trusted rapid response critical care services: “Helping people anytime, anywhere is what we do – it’s our reason for being, and we are honoured to be helping such a vital community service provider with a vision so closely aligned to our own … By supporting CareFlight, we can help even more people and help CareFlight achieve its goal of bringing specialist intensive care treatment to patients as quickly as possible.”

Through a network of 14 aircraft and with 10 doctors on duty every day, CareFlight said it is dedicated to providing the highest standard of emergency medical assistance to the ill and injured. CareFlight also provides trauma training and education through the CareFlight MediSim training programmes. These initiatives are provided to rural and remote clinicians and emergency service volunteers to increase their knowledge and skills in trauma patient care. This increased skill ultimately saves lives and improves patient outcomes in many states throughout Australia, said the charity.
