Chinese company Wuhan Rand Aviation Technology Service has signed a deal with Russian Helicopters to receive two Ansat helicopters for medevac purposes. It makes the Chinese company the first outside of Russia to receive Ansat helicopters with hydromechanical control systems, according to Russian Helicopters.
The aircraft will be delivered before the end of 2017, and Russian Helicopters says that it is in contract talks with another Chinese company. The helicopters are equipped for medevac, with a spacious cabin designed to carry between 7 and 9 people. A medically equipped Ansat can also provide the functions of an intensive care unit and monitoring of patients’ vital functions during flights to hospitals.
"We are pleased that the first foreign customer for an Ansat is here, as Russia has had a long and fruitful history of cooperation with China,” said Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev. “They are a long-time operator of Soviet and Russian-made helicopters. We hope that this delivery will soon be followed by others, and the fleet of Ansats in China will grow.”
