Cobham Aerospace Communications has announced that it has begun production of a remote controller for its popular RT-7000PMR (Panel Mount Radio). Part of the FlexcommTM family of airborne tactical radios, the new RT-7000RCDU (Remote Control Display Unit) connects to an RT-7000PMR and replicates the radio’s primary control and display in every way. It’s essentially a panel-mount radio without transceivers, giving it a significantly shorter chassis for simple remote installation. With all the features of the panel-mount radio, the RCDU delivers instantaneous operation with no delay and features a customisable user interface. The RCDU allows radio control in a secondary position in an aircraft, for users such as emergency medical technicians, ISR mission radio operators, airborne law enforcement tactical flight officers, search and rescue scanners, rescue winch operators, or anyone with observer communication needs.
