The four-strong crew and a five-year-old patient escape with only minor injuries after a KidsFlight helicopter suffered a hard landing in Perry County, Missouri, US. The accident occurred at around 20:40 hrs on 1 July, according to local media reports, which showed the helicopter lying on its side in a field.
In a statement posted on Facebook on 2 July, St Louis Children's Hospital Critical Care Transport Team said: “We would like to inform our fellow community and followers of an incident involving our own KidsFlight 1 helicopter. Today there was an accident involving three med crew members, a pilot and a patient in southern Missouri. We are happy to report that there were no fatalities. We will continue to update you as we know more information and appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we go through this situation.”
The child was transported to St Louis Children’s Hospital by ground ambulance, said a hospital representative, adding: “Thanks to the crew for all their actions to ensure everybody got out safely. You are truly Guardians of Childhood.”
