Further bid announcement for UK SAR
The UK Department for Transport (DfT) has today announced the names of the companies shortlisted to participate in the next stage of the procurement process for the UK search and rescue (SAR) helicopter services contracts, which is being procured using the competitive dialogue procedure.
The UK Department for Transport (DfT) has today announced the names of the companies shortlisted to participate in the next stage of the procurement process for the UK search and rescue (SAR) helicopter services contracts, which is being procured using the competitive dialogue procedure.
Bidders have been invited to bid for Lot 1, covering northern bases, Lot 2, covering southern bases, or Lot 3, covering all bases. The bidders announced are:
– for Lot 1, Bond Offshore Helicopters, Bristow Helicopters and CHC Scotia;
– for Lot 2, Bond Offshore Helicopters, Bristow Helicopters, CHC Scotia, Noordzee Helikopters Vlaanderen N.V., Osprey Consortium (comprising Babcock Aerospace Ltd, ERA Helicopters and British International Helicopters);
– for Lot 3, Bond Offshore Helicopters, Bristow Helicopters, CHC Scotia, Lockheed Martin UK Integrated Systems, Osprey Consortium.
A number of companies announced in the DfT’s statement in March as shortlisted to bid for the contracts (https://www.airmedandrescue.com/latest/news/uk-future-sar-bidders-announced) are not included in the latest statement: Elbit Systems, Evergreen International Aviation, Eurocopter UK and FB Heliservices. Of the groups still in the running, the Osprey Consortium remains a bidder for Lots 2 and 3 but is no longer listed under Lot 1.
The Government expects to announce the successful bidders for either Lots 1 and 2, or Lot 3, in early 2013.
Contract details
Lot 1 will deliver the service at, or in the vicinity of, Sumburgh, Stornoway, Culdrose, Leconfield and Valley with a minimum rescue capacity per aircraft of eight casualties/survivors (two of whom are capable of being stretchered) and a minimum radius of action of 200 nm (250 nm at Stornoway). Lot 2 will deliver the service at, or in the vicinity of Lee-on-the-Solent, Chivenor, Prestwick, Lossiemouth and Wattisham with a minimum rescue capacity per aircraft of four casualties/survivors (two of whom are capable of being stretchered). Lot 3 will deliver the service requirements of both Lot 1 and Lot 2.
