Aerones, a Latvian-based drone start-up, has shared footage of its new drone which it says could be used for search and rescue, and firefighting exercises.

The heavy-duty drone can lift up to 100kg, and uses 36 propellers to keep it airborne. What makes the drone unique, according to its makers, is a tethering system that allows the drone to stay connected to a power source whilst in flight. It is also completely mobile, the company said, meaning it can be used for a number of different tasks.

The company said that it is still in the process of securing funds to become fully commercialised, but that it has received positive feedback so far.
