On 19 January, the UK Coastguard was called upon to assist with the rescue of an unwell sea captain from a fishing vessel 80 nautical miles north of Stornoway, Scotland. A search and rescue helicopter was called to airlift the captain at around 13:30 hrs. The Coastguard said the operation ran smoothly despite the rough sea conditions due to the boat’s crew being ‘well organised’.
