Italy’s Guardia di Finanza opens simulator centre

Police agency now has access to simulation training facilities for a range of Leonardo-developed aircraft
Specializing in maritime patrolling and economic or financial matters, Guardia di Finanza (GdF) opened the new Air-Naval Operations Simulator Centre at Rome’s Pratica di Mare Air Base on 2 February.
The training facility was developed in partnership with Leonardo, who have supplied a number of aircraft to the GdF – including a fleet of 24 AW169Ms currently undergoing deliveries.
Leonardo said the centre ‘integrates advanced network simulation systems in a single environment’, with facilities offering training simulations for AW139 and AW169 helicopters, as well as the P-72B (ATR 72) fixed-wing aircraft.
The facility is a European Union Aviation Safety Agency-approved (EASA) training organization, and also holds an Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) remotely piloted aircraft training certificate.
