ITIJ Air Ambulance Provider of the Year winner announced
This year’s International Travel & Health Insurance Journal (ITIJ) Awards were held at the InterContinental hotel in Vienna, Austria, on 7 November.
This year’s International Travel & Health Insurance Journal (ITIJ) Awards were held at the InterContinental hotel in Vienna, Austria, on 7 November. The glittering awards ceremony - now in its 11th year - honours those companies that have made an outstanding contribution to the global travel and health insurance industry over the past year.
This year’s Air Ambulance Provider of the Year Award was given to Tyrol Air Ambulance.
Ian Cameron, ITIJ’s editor in chief, said of the awards: “It was a fantastic evening, starting with a performance from the Vienna Boys’ Choir and concluding with the presentation of the ITIJ Awards. I would like to say congratulations to all the winners on the night, but also all those companies who were nominated as finalists as well. The competition was fierce this year, and goes to show how important these awards are to everyone in the global travel and health insurance industries.”
The winner: Tyrol Air Ambulance
Founded in 1976, Tyrol Air Ambulance (TAA) is one of the leading and most established air ambulance companies in Europe. TAA is located at Innsbruck Airport, Austria, in the very heart of the Alps. Each year, some 3,000 patients are repatriated safely. TAA’s unique fleet of seven aircraft perfectly matches the various needs of clients and patients on short, mid and long haul flights. TAA operates its own maintenance and equipment with the most up-to-date standards. The medical team is headed by Professor Dr Josef Rieder, deputy medical director at the Clinic for Surgical Intensive Care Medicine at Innsbruck University Clinic, to ensure the outstanding medical quality of the monitoring doctors and escort crews. TAA’s psychologists co-operate with the Austrian government for crisis prevention and intervention.
