KAI and BJG Electronics sign component supply contract

Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) has sealed a long-term agreement with US-based BJG Electronics Group to support helicopter programs
BJG Electronics will supply KAI’s Korean Utility Helicopter (KUH-1 Surion) and Light Armed Helicopter (LAH) programs with ‘interconnect and electromechanical’ components, under a multi-year agreement designed to minimize inventory and assure consistent quality.
Glenn Davidson, BJG CEO, said his company was ‘honored to join KAI as a supplier’, and ‘committed to meeting KAI’s demanding supplier requirements and contributing to the success of this program in the coming years’.
The KUH-1 Surion is a twin-engine, medium transport helicopter, used for a range of operations including military, police, emergency medical transport, maritime surveillance, aerial firefighting and general transport.
The LAH is a compact, twin-engine combat helicopter based on the Airbus H155 (Eurocopter EC155). The aircraft – currently in development at time of writing – successfully completed a series of cold weather test flights in Canada’s Northwest Territories between December 2021 and February 2022. KAI has previously stated that it plans to complete development in 2022.
