US-based Metro Aviation has welcomed Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s AirCare, a hospital-based air medical programme, as its latest member. Metro Aviation said that it will begin to provide aviation services to AirCare from 2 May.
Metro Aviation also supports Vidant EastCare and Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA), and Metro’s Director of Business Integration, Todd Stanberry, said he was thrilled to welcome AirCare to the Metro Family. “The AirCare programme shares our values and dedication to safety and we look forward to a long relationship.”
Three Airbus EC135 P2+ helicopters were acquired and refurbished by Metro for the AirCare programme. They were fitted with crew and attendant seats, Metro’s FAA-certified composite medical floor with a Ferno 28A-1 litter, and Metro’s FAA certified litter-load ramp system. A fourth EC135 will also be acquired and fitted for AirCare, Metro said.
The AirCare crew currently includes a pilot, flight nurse, and paramedic and has bases in Davidson County, North Carolina, Surry County, North Carolina, and Henry County, Virginia.
