Spain receives first H215
The Spanish Air Force has received its first H215, which will offer SAR in the Canaries.
Yesterday, the Spanish Air Force received its first H215, which is also the first of its kind in service in Spain. The helicopter will be used to perform search and rescue missions, from its base in Gondo, Gran Canaria.
The Spanish Air Force took receipt of the helicopter at a ceremony held at the Airbus Helicopters plant in Albacete.
The twin-engine H215 is a Super Puma rotorcraft, a family from which the Spanish Air Force already operates several helicopters. Onboard equipment includes multi-function digital screens and a four-axis autopilot for flight envelope protection, precision and stability.
Following a short training programme for crews, who are already experienced in flying other versions of the Super Puma, the new helicopter will enter into service.
