Eleven Spanish fire-fighting aircraft from the 43rd Air Force Group assisted in extinguishing three wildfires that spread in the Iberian Peninsula.
The largest of the fires, located in Sierra de Segura, is still raging, said the Spanish Ministry of Defence (Ministerio de Defensa). Between 29 and 30 August, seven planes dropped more than 800 tons of water onto the blaze, racking up a total of 70 hours flight time.
Of the other two fires, one was extinguished by three planes in Font Fría, whilst the other was tackled by one plane alone near the town of Villamartín de Valdeorras.
