Two choppers respond to vehicle accident on beach

On 13 March, RACQ LifeFlight Rescue dispatched helicopter crews from both its the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg bases respond to a single motor vehicle accident north of Eurong Creek, Fraser Island, Australia. The vehicle, a Toyota 4WD belonged to a Fraser Island sight-seeing ‘tag-along’ company, and contained eight international visitors.
The Sunshine Coast-based helicopter was tasked to the scene at 08:34 hrs to airlift the driver, who was the most seriously injured, suffering suspected head, neck and chest injuries.
A woman was treated at the scene by the crew and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics before being airlifted to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.
The Bundaberg-based crew were sent to the scene at 09:50 hrs to airlift one of the passengers – a Swedish man who suffered suspected neck injuries. The man was treated by the crew and QAS paramedics at the scene and transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition, said LifeFlight.
