South African Red Cross Air Mercy Service (SARCAMS) has received two Leonardo AW119Kx helicopters from AMS Heli Design, which the Texas, US-based company has outfitted with its AMS Heli Design lightweight EMS interior.
The aircraft were previously operated by REACH helicopters before being retrofitted by AMS Heli Design at the company’s hangar facility in Denison, Texas. As well as the outfitting, the company also carried out structural repairs from the removed interiors as well as periodic maintenance, disassembly for oversees transport, and containerized delivery.
“I was grateful to receive this challenge since I know the value of our kit,” said Andrea Girolin CEO of AMS Heli Design. “It adds incomparable operational advantages through the seat allocation and articulating stretcher, and the weight saving is amazing thanks to the use of new materials and interior arrangements.”
In total, AMS Heli Design said that it shaved 103 lbs off the aircraft’s weight, while also offering additional equipment options such as an oxygen bottle with 35-per-cent more capacity and an articulating stretcher offering improved patient handling.
