Canadian avionics design and manufacturing firm Latitude Technologies has received a US patent for its flight data monitoring technology system.
The newly issued patent recognises Latitude’s unique system and advanced methods invented by its engineers and programmers used for recording, reporting, and analysis of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft flight data in real time, according to the company. Latitude’s system uses wireless network transfer in order to distribute information to ground-based personnel in ‘a needed and timely manner’. The patent was first filed in 2013.
Real-time reporting capabilities are offered by Latitude’s Flight Data Monitoring, which the company says allows for aircraft operators to enhance operational safety, training, engine maintenance and fuel savings.
