Critical care aeromedical retrieval service and charity CareFlight, based in Australia, sent its rapid response helicopter to the aid of a 37-year-old woman who caught alight refuelling a car while attending a three-day Powercruise event at Sydney Motorsport Park in Eastern Creek.
The woman suffered multiple burns to her body and initial care was provided by paramedics from Ambulance Service Australia. CareFlight arrived at the scene shortly after and the service’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic placed the woman into an induced coma in order to stabilise her condition.
CareFlight continued to provide intensive care to the patient whil airlifting her to Royal North Shore Hospital in a ‘stable but serious condition’. New South Wales (NSW) Ambulance and NSW Police also offered aid, and CareFlight has praised all three services for their assistance.
