CareFlight rescues road collision victim
Australian air ambulance charity CareFlight has airlifted a truck driver to hospital following a collision with another truck on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Mooney on 27 February.
Australian air ambulance charity CareFlight has airlifted a truck driver to hospital following a collision with another truck on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Mooney on 27 February.
The 42-year-old man is in a stable condition after CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked to the incident at 09:00 hrs – New South Wales (NSW) Police halted traffic to allow the helicopter to land at the scene; the NSW Ambulance team was also on the scene providing assistance.
Fire and Rescue NSW was also at the scene of the accident, working to free the man, who was trapped from the waist down. It took over an hour to remove the patient from the wreckage; CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic assisted the driver as he remained trapped, taking extra precautionary action for spinal injuries.
CareFlight’s medical team continued treatment on the man for lower body injuries and airlifted him to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
