Metro Aviation (Metro), a global provider of completion services for all missions and types of helicopters, recently purchased Guardian Mobility (Guardian), a Canadian provider of solutions for global tracking, voice and data communications, flight data monitoring (FDM) and analytics services.
The second company of its kind to be added to Metro Aviation after Metro purchased Outerlink Global Solutions in 2014, Guardian presented Metro with an opportunity to fill gaps in its product line – as a growing company with portable products and a sophisticated billing system – as well as offering additional benefits to the company as an Iridium VAR (value added reseller).
Guardian’s G4 product provides global, real-time user tracking and two-way messaging, as well as being equipped for Automatic Flight Following (AFF) and Additional Telemetry Unit (ATU). Guardian has also recently released a whitepaper on the G4 technology and how it relates to ATU and AFF.
For Guardian, becoming part of the Metro brand gives the company the benefit of having a new operator with 30-plus years of operating experience – creating solutions that operators need and want, while also rounding out the Metro portfolio.
Metro President Mike Stanberry said: “We are excited to add Guardian Mobility to the Metro Companies. Guardian’s portable device, including the added AFF and ATU capabilities, expands our service offerings in the field of flight data monitoring, tracking and communication.” He also added that Guardian’s ‘strong footprint in Canada and Europe’ offered an excellent opportunity for Metro to expand its market.
Metro and Guardian will be holding a press event at Heli-Expo on 6 March – they will be on booth C1023 at 10:30 am.
