North Memorial Health Care crash leaves three in critical care
The North Memorial Health Care aircraft was en route to pick up a patient when it crashed.
Three crew members were injured in a medical helicopter crash in Alexandria, Oregon, US on 17 September. The North Memorial Health Care aircraft was en route to pick up a patient from the Douglas County Hospital when it crashed near Lake Winona, north of the Alexandria Municipal Airport. All three passengers were placed critical care, according to North Memorial Health Care. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board were alerted and attended the crash site. Both organisations have opened up investigations into the cause of the crash, though no official report has been released yet.
North Memorial Health Care immediately started its emergency procedure, calling teams from Valley Med Flight, Life Link, Douglas County Hospital and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department to aid the swift evacuation of the injured crew. North Memorial Health Care thanked the EMS services that assisted the crew, calling them ‘true professionals’ in a statement.
“I am extremely proud of our team members for their response at the site,” commented Dr J. Kevin Croston, CEO of North Memorial Health Care. “Our immediate concern is with our crew members who are now being treated at North Memorial Medical Centre. We are glad they are here. There is no better place to receive care.”
