New medical technologies to shape medevac in 2020s
Defence IQ has surveyed professionals regarding the state of military medevac in 2016 and beyond.
Ahead of its Medevac Summit, which will be held in London, UK, on 19 to 20 October, UK-based Defence IQ has released the results of a survey into the state of military medevac in 2016.
The findings, which the firm said are based on the responses of over 100,000 of its members and past conference attendees, are presented in a downloadable infographic. The results cover the predicted impact of different factors on medevac, the region that will have the greatest demand for technologies and equipment linked to medevac and the most significant challenges for medevac operations.
Over half of respondents (58 per cent) believe new medical technologies will have the biggest impact on medevac operations over the next decade, closely followed by new operational innovations (54 per cent). Other factors cited include better co-ordination between international allies and regional partners (47 per cent) and improved training to increase their skills base (46 per cent).
Respondents stated that the Middle East will have the greatest demand for technologies, equipment and resources (54 per cent), followed by Africa (59 per cent) and Asia Pacific (44 per cent). Over half of those surveyed (56 per cent) believe that military, industry and civilian organisations are able to co-operate and find solutions to resource problems without affecting quality of care.
