NATO-led forces assist in Serbia child medevac
A Kosovo-based NATO helicopter performed an emergency medical evacuation of a new-born baby.
A NATO helicopter assigned to its Kosovo Force (KFOR) peacekeeping operation performed an emergency medical evacuation of a new-born baby from a hospital in Pristina to a facility in Belgrade, Serbia.
The child was born in Gracania with a serious heart infection that spread to its lungs. KFOR responded, initially bringing the child to the Kosovo University Clinical Centre in Pristina. The child was quickly stabilised in the hospital, but the child’s family requested that treatment continue in a Belgrade hospital. A US medevac UH-60 helicopter of Multinational Battle Group East (MNBG-E) then carried out the medevac flight on 21 November. NATO said that the mission was made possible by the close co-operation of Serbian and KFOR, and shows how KFOR continues to contribute to a safe and secure environment in the country.
