Bristow to provide new SAR service in Gulf of Mexico
Bristow US has announced that it has been awarded a contract with Shell Offshore Inc. to provide SAR services in the Gulf of Mexico.
Bristow US has announced that it has been awarded a contract with Shell Offshore Inc., a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell (Shell), to provide SAR services in the Gulf of Mexico. Part of the contract will see Shell join the new SAR consortium formed by Bristow. It aims to provide ‘unrivalled service and lifesaving capabilities to members whilst simultaneously reducing overall costs’ say the industrial helicopter services provider.
Bristow say it will be deploying a Sikorsky S-92 and a Leonardo AW139 to provide the service to Shell. “With our rescue fleet, all parts of the Gulf of Mexico are within reach of this lifesaving service,” said Bristow Americas regional director Samantha Willenbacher. A dispatch system staffed by registered EMTs will also be provided by Bristow.
The service will be operated from Bristow’s SAR facility at the South Lafourche Airport in Galliano, Louisiana.
