Brazil receives new SAR plane
Onboard equipment includes radar that can simultaneously monitor up to 640 targets.
On 16 June, the Brazilian Air Force received a new SC-105 Amazonas plane equipped for search and rescue. The delivery ceremony took place at the Airbus plant in Seville, Spain, and was attended by Defence Minister Raul Jungmann, Air Force Commander Lt-Brigadier Nivaldo Luiz Rossato, as well as military personnel responsible for moving the airplane to Brazil.
The aircraft will be operated by Pelicano Squadron, 5 Wing, in Campo Grande. Before joining the fleet, it is participating in the Le Bourget airshow in Paris, France, and will then tour Asia and North America.
