Australia’s CareFlight has reported that four people were involved in a three-car collision in western Sydney, Australia on the afternoon of 23 June. Two patients were taken to hospital.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Blacktown shortly after 14:00 hrs, landing after a six-minute flight in a park less than 100 m from the accident scene on Sunnyholt Road.
Police and Traffic Management teams closed the road in one direction and one of two lanes in the opposing direction as NSW Fire & Rescue and Ambulance crews attended.
The helicopter carried CareFlight’s specialist medical team, comprising a doctor and a critical care paramedic, who treated a 65-year-old man for facial and head injuries. The man was the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles. They continued treating the man in a ground ambulance as he was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
