Injured man cut off by snow

Philips Search and Rescue Trust of New Zealand has reported how the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched at approximately 16:30 hrs on 13 July to a property in the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges, 50 km (31 miles) north of Palmerston North.

A 48-year-old man had sustained a leg injury and had been cut off from the road due to the heavy snow fall during the day.

The only access available to the remote property was via rescue helicopter. The man was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital for treatment.
