EMERCOM hosts air rescue festival
The Khabarovsk Aircraft and Rescue Center was named as the winner of the Best Aircraft and Rescue Center award.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) is holding the ninth Constellation of Courage Festival. The event aims to raise public awareness of the work of EMERCOM firefighters and rescuers in helping people in need, as well as to encourage participation in volunteer societies.
The Khabarovsk Aircraft and Rescue Center was named as the winner of the Best Aircraft and Rescue Center award for the second time in a row, said EMERCOM. The aircraft of the Khabarovsk Training and Rescue Center, which to protect the Far Eastern Federal District, have carried out 1,400 flights including search and rescue missions and air support during emergencies. Over 5,000 people were transported by aircraft over the last year, including 360 people that were evacuated from emergency areas, and more than 660 tons of cargo were delivered by aircraft. In 2017 pilots of the Center spent almost 2,800 in the air and saved over 350 lives, said EMERCOM.
The Khabarovsk Aircraft and Rescue Center fleet comprises 14 aircraft: two Beriyev Be-200ChS jets, an Antonov An-74 plane, two Mil Mi-26 and nine Mil Mi-8 helicopters.
