Dr Michael Weinlich has announced the names of the interim board members of the European Aero-Medical Institute (EURAMI), whom he appointed after the previous board members resigned en masse on 28 June citing conflict within the leadership. The interim board members will fulfil the role of the board until permanent board members are elected at the EURAMI members meeting in November, he said. Although Weinlich said in a statement on 29 June that he would resign his position as president of the Institute as soon as interim board members were announced, he has since told Waypoint that he would remain as ‘legal placeholder’ until the elections take place.
The interim board comprises: Chris Connor, vice-president and operations manager for Life Flight International, Canada; Milan Floribus, founder and vice-president of American Care Air Ambulance, US; Mark Jones, president of Air Ambulance Worldwide, US; Philipp Schneider, key account manager at Quick Air Jet Charter, Germany; and Dr Jon Warwick, medical director of Air Medical Ltd (AirMed UK), UK.
Weinlich explained: “The responsibility of the board members is to review the ongoing accreditation process, to optimise the statutes together with our lawyers and to prepare the next members meeting and election. The interim board will work together with Andrew Wither [permanent secretary of the EURAMI office] to maintain the organisation up till the meetings at [the ITIC Barcelona conference] in November 2012.”
