CHP airlifts 72-year-old horserider
California Highway Patrol Helicopter 30 assisted with the rescue of a 72-year-old female who had fallen from a horse.
On 17 May at approximately 11:10 hrs, Contra Costa Fire Protection District requested assistance from California Highway Patrol (CHP) Helicopter 30 (H-30) with the rescue of a 72-year-old female who had fallen from a horse and was knocked unconscious. H-30 was needed to hoist the woman out due to the terrain in the area, which was described as rugged and difficult to access. H-30 arrived overhead and lowered rescue hoist gear to the firefighters and state park rangers on the ground who had accessed the injured party. After the patient was prepared for hoist extraction, H-30 returned and hoisted the woman up to the helicopter. The crew then flew to a nearby landing zone, where the patient was transferred to the care of a ground ambulance crew for transport to hospital.
