Columbia Helicopters delivers humanitarian aid in Africa
Columbia Helicopters provided a full turnkey service, including pilots, crew, and maintenance personnel to support the aircraft
Columbia Helicopters recently deployed three Columbia Model 234 Multi-Mission Chinook helicopters to transport critical supplies to remote and inaccessible regions for humanitarian efforts in Africa. In the first few weeks, the company transported over 346 tons of essential supplies, including food, water, and other critical items in Burkina Faso. These efforts were aimed at supporting vulnerable people, including pregnant women and young children, and assisting those in need.
Michael Tremlett, President, and CEO of Columbia Helicopters, stated: “All of us at Columbia are very proud to be providing vital humanitarian services quickly and safely with our heavy-lift aircraft … This is the first of what we hope will be many future global relief efforts as Columbia expands our operational footprint into more year-round market opportunities.”
The Columbia Model 234 LR is a standard transport-category helicopter capable of global multi-mission heavy-lift operations with no restrictions. The long-range tandem rotor super heavy-lift helicopter features a 28,000lb (12,701kg) external load capability, the ability to carry up to 44 passengers, the world’s largest internal cargo capacity for a helicopter, a large ramp area for rapid cargo loading and unloading, and a 560NM range.
The UK recently finalized an order for 14 more extended-range Chinooks through a deal with the US government.
