Fleet expansion for Fox Flight Air Ambulance
International repatriation specialist adds Learjet 45XR to expand services in Europe
Fox Flight Air Ambulance has enhanced its fleet with a Learjet 45XR, acquired from Luxembourg Air Rescue. This will complement its existing fleet of three Learjet 40XRs.
As such, the aircraft comes configured for medical repatriation missions. David Fox, President of Fox Flight, commented: “The longer fuselage of the Lear-45XR provides room for a washroom and extra baggage, which many air ambulances don’t have, and the taller and wider cabin makes it easier for the medical crew to load and unload the patient and provide in-flight care.
“Medical repatriation is always challenging, but these factors help make the experience easier for patients, companions, and crew alike.”
Anticipating a European travel boom
While the Fox Flight fleet is situated in Toronto, Canada, the air ambulance service aims to base the Learjet 45XR in Europe and take advantage of an anticipated uptick in travel.
Fox continued: “We believe that travel to and from Europe is poised to take off in the wake of the Covid pandemic. Adding capacity to our fleet allows us to meet that pent-up demand while continuing to provide services from clients traveling in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean.
“Ultimately, we intend to base the Learjet 45XR in Europe, which will allow us to fly longer wing-to-wing missions using our own aircraft and crews exclusively.”
