The pilot of a helicopter that went missing in Myanmar in late September has been found dead. A three-strong crew was flying onboard the aircraft in order to deliver food to a ground team looking for climbers on Hkakabo Razi, southeast Asia’s highest mountain, in Kachin State. Contact was lost with the helicopter around 20 minutes after it took off from Putao. The next news came when one of the men who had been onboard arrived in Lan Sar village, after travelling ‘many miles’ on foot. He told rescuers that the pilot and co-pilot of the helicopter had also survived the crash and were still alive somewhere in the forest. The co-pilot was rescued and taken to a hospital, but the pilot was later found dead.
