Regensburger aircraft upgrade
The crews of DRF Luftrettung’s base in Regensburg, Germany, have begun working with a new helicopter.
At the end of May, the crews of DRF Luftrettung’s base in Regensburg, Germany, began working with a new team member: an H145 helicopter.
Christian Hackl, station manager and pilot at the air ambulance base, described the benefits of the new-generation aircraft, highlighting the machine’s powerful engines and shrouded tail rotor, which increases safety. The radio and navigation systems have been improved compared to earlier aircraft used at the base, with all important flight data now displayed on large screens.
The helicopter boasts a completely redesigned medical interior design, created with DRF Luftrettung’s input. New features include the stretcher being moved from the left side to the right side to allow the crew to work more ergonomically and efficiently. Additionally, the seats can be rotated and positioned at various locations of the cabin.
Hackl commented: “We are very pleased that from today we are able to use the new H145. For our mission profile here in the region – urgent patient transports between clinics and emergency response – the helicopter is ideally suited.”
