INAER-owned emergency medical helicopters in Castilla La Mancha, central Spain, now carry blood onboard for medics to administer to seriously injured patients under a pilot scheme announced by the Minister for Health and Social Affairs Jose Ignacio Echaniz. The Minister said the move was the result of efforts made over the past four years to reorganise emergency healthcare transport mechanisms in the region. He stated also that the helicopter base located at the National Paraplegic Patient hospital has regained authorisation from the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency, after losing authorisation two years ago for failing to meet the necessary safety requirements.
Castilla la Mancha has four emergency helicopters serving its citizens, two of which can fly at night.
