The Philips Search and Rescue Trust has reported that its Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was dispatched to Lake Matahina on 2 August, where a 56-year-old Waimana man had crashed his motocross bike while taking part in an organised Trail ride event.
The man collided with a tree while riding in a forest, and received serious spinal injuries as a result. He was flown directly to Auckland’s Middlemore hospital, as per a recently introduced policy for spinal injury management.
Philips Search and Rescue Trust is a charitable organisation, operating rescue helicopters throughout the Central North Island of New Zealand.
