Event review: Ninth Central European Air Rescue Symposium
Innovations in emergency medical research and mental training to help to prepare emergency services staff, and many other topics were discussed at the 9th Central European Air Rescue Symposium, hosted by Swiss Air-Rescue Rega
The annual symposium returned with its ninth edition at the Olma Exhibition Halls in St Gallen in Switzerland.
Representatives from various European air rescue companies; doctors and nurses from the fields of anesthesia, intensive care medicine and emergency medicine; rescue service personnel (ground and air); and scientific staff all met to share ideas and receive training on a busy day that was full with presentations and networking opportunities.
Host and Rega Medical Director Prof Roland Albrecht was delighted with the great interest shown by the 340 guests. Speaking of the importance of unity and cooperation, he said: “The interaction with other organizations is central, and together we want to develop and discuss ideas for improving medical care by air. We all have the same task: to ensure that our patients are better off. We can make faster progress together than each organization can on its own.”
The program for the day was split into four sessions and an honored lecture. The sessions followed themes that were each broken into three presentations, broadly covering novel approaches, media interaction, mental health, and the future of air medicine.
Also present on the day was one of Rega’s Airbus H145 emergency helicopters.
The next Air Rescue Symposium will take place on 18 October 2025 at the ADAC Air Rescue Campus near Munich, Germany.
