FlySight explains how important it is that OPENSIGHT is able to transform complex sensor data into actionable information for increasingly demanding airborne missions

As airborne operations become more complex, integrating multiple sensors, platforms, and mission systems is essential to achieving reliable situational awareness. Yet connecting different technologies is only part of the challenge. Ensuring data consistency, managing information flows, and making the right information available at the right time are equally critical.

FlySight addresses these challenges with OPENSIGHT Mission Suite, a modular and interoperable mission ecosystem designed to transform heterogeneous data into a coherent operational picture.

From multi-sensor integration to mission intelligence

Every sensor has strengths and limitations. Radar can provide valuable information in conditions where visibility is reduced, while electro-optical and infrared sensors deliver complementary visual information. AIS and ADS-B add identification and tracking data, helping operators build a more comprehensive understanding of the operational environment.

The real value lies in bringing these sources together.

OPENSIGHT combines geospatial information, live sensor video, tracks, metadata, and mission objects within a unified operational environment. Its data integration and processing capabilities help operators correlate information from different sources, improve situational awareness and access relevant mission data when it matters most.

Image-processing capabilities, including enhancement and dehazing, further support the interpretation of video imagery. Where supported, augmented reality overlays provide additional contextual information directly within the operational view.

Interoperability by design

Integrating modern sensors with existing mission systems presents significant engineering challenges. Different interfaces, protocols, data formats, and timing requirements can affect compatibility, consistency and performance. As sensor networks expand, managing data volumes and maintaining reliable information exchange become increasingly important.

OPENSIGHT is designed to address these challenges through a modular architecture that supports standardized and vendorspecific interfaces. Its integration capabilities include standards such as STANAG 4586, STANAG 4609, STANAG 4607, and STANAG 7023, alongside cursor-on-target (CoT) and other data interfaces.

This approach supports the integration of heterogeneous technologies while enabling information exchange between distributed consoles and external systems. It also provides a flexible foundation for evolving operational requirements and future mission capabilities.

Integration must be validated

Successful integration goes beyond establishing connectivity. Sensor data must be interpreted correctly, metadata must remain consistent, tracks must be correlated, and commands must reach the intended equipment.

OPENSIGHT connects integration with operational validation, supporting the assessment of interfaces, data flows, and end-to-end mission workflows. Planning, simulation, validation, and replay capabilities help teams evaluate how integrated technologies perform together, identify potential issues, and improve system readiness before operational deployment.

Mission data can also be retained and retrieved for post-mission analysis. For example, AIS information can become part of a persistent mission database, supporting the review and correlation of events beyond the live operational phase.

One ecosystem, multiple missions

The OPENSIGHT Mission Suite ecosystem supports a broad range of applications, including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR); maritime surveillance; tactical operations; command and control; unmanned systems; and search and rescue.

Its modular architecture provides a foundation for capabilities such as radar integration, AI-based automatic target recognition (ATR), advanced tracking, and mission data management, with further development towards crewed–uncrewed teaming (MUM-T).

By bringing sensor integration, data management, operational validation, and post-mission analysis into a common framework, FlySight helps operators make better use of available technologies while preparing for increasingly complex missions.

Meet FlySight at European Rotors 2026 in Lyon, France, at booth 13 by the entrance to the exhibition hall, to discover how OPENSIGHT Mission Suite turns interoperability into operational capability.
