The systems, supplied by manufacturer GPMS International, will improve the efficiency of aircraft maintenance during periods of high demand

Australian aviation operator Aerotech Helicopters has placed an order with GPMS International to equip its UH-60 Black Hawk fleet with the Foresight MX health and usage monitoring system (HUMS).

The HUMS systems will allow Aerotech to improve the efficiency and safety of its operations, which span a range of mission types including medical evacuation, aerial firefighting, and marine oil spill response.

The move follows a trial of the system on a single Black Hawk, announced by Aerotech in June.

“We’ve been using Foresight MX for several months now, and we’ve been very impressed by the capabilities and support we’ve received from GPMS,” said Chris Boyd, CEO of parent company Aerotech Group.

“Foresight has significantly simplified our checks and inspections, and the ability to remotely monitor the aircraft operating thousands of kilometers away from our headquarters is improving our availability. It’s given us the confidence to equip the rest of our Black Hawk fleet with Foresight MX HUMS,” he added.

Ronnie Ries, Vice President of Marketing at GPMS, added: “With the upcoming fire season, these aircraft are going to be in very high demand. With Foresight’s HUMS, engine monitoring, and rotor track and balance capability, these aircraft will be able to fly longer and with more confidence than ever before.”
