The agency, which provides law enforcement services across the Aichi Prefecture on the central Japanese island of Honshu, has a history of using Bell aircraft

Bell Textron has announced that Aichi Prefectural Police, in Japan, have commenced operations using a new Bell 505 helicopter.

The manufacturer stated that the rotorcraft was the first of its type to be used for police operations in the Asia-Pacific region.

The launch of the helicopter was commemorated with a ceremony at Komaki Airport in Nagoya.

Aichi Prefectural Police is the main law enforcement agency in the Aichi Prefecture, and is tasked with crime prevention, traffic management, disaster response, and community policing. The agency has used Bell aircraft for many years, previously operating models such as the Bell 206 and 412.

The Phoenix Police Department, in the US state of Arizona, recently acquired an Airbus H145 to support its own operations.
