Air Ambulances UK Welcomes New Board Members
The Board of Trustees of charity Air Ambulances UK has announced two new Board appointments after a competitive recruitment process
Claire Walters and Matthew Williams joined the charity on 1 October, bringing with them a wealth of experience to compliment the representation of skills, backgrounds and knowledge of the existing Board.
They join the charity at an exciting time, as it embarks on a new era following its merger with the former professional body the Association of Air Ambulances early this year - forming one national organisation that represents, champions and supports the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities.
Claire Walters and Matthew Williams join the Board
Claire Walters is Chief Commercial Officer for Unipart Logistics, responsible for business development, marketing, strategy, leadership of customer partnerships, digital innovation, consultancy, and programme delivery across technology, automotive, health, consumer and utilities customers in the UK, US and Asia Pacific. She brings a diversity of experience to the Board, as well as personal experience of an air ambulance rescue having been airlifted by Cornwall Air Ambulance following a traumatic cycling accident last summer.
Junior Doctor Matthew Williams is based in South Wales and has a keen interest in pre-hospital emergency medicine, stemming from his emergency medicine speciality training. He is currently completing his master’s in healthcare leadership and has previous governance experience as Chair of national sexual and relationship health charity Sexpression.
Bringing a complimentary set of skills
Heather Benjamin, Air Ambulances UK Chair, said: “I am delighted that we have Claire and Matthew joining our Board as we take forward the organisation in this pivotal time in our development. They bring a complimentary set of skills to the current Board members with their commercial, clinical, digital and fundraising experience.
“Claire and Matthew's professional experience and personal traits will provide board leadership, with an emphasis on their compassionate and collaborative approach, which we have been developing as part of our values and approach with our air ambulance charity Members.”
