Air Methods opens new base in Crawfordville, Florida
Air Methods has announced the opening of a new emergency air ambulance base in Crawfordville, in the US state of Florida
The base, named AirLife Florida 1, opened on 4 June, and will serve Wakulla County and the surrounding region.
It expands an existing network of Air Methods bases in Florida, including AIRHeart 2 in Marianna, Okaloosa MedFlight in Niceville, and AirLife Florida 12 and LifeFlight 1 in Pensacola.
Air Methods stated that the new base would offer 24/7 emergency air ambulance services, as well as interfacility transports for patients in need of specialized care.
The base is home to a new Bell 407GXi helicopter, equipped with a range of medical equipment, as well as the ability to carry blood products on board.
“Until now, Wakulla and the surrounding counties have never had an air ambulance service so close, and this addition will be a game-changer in emergency medical care,” said Flight Paramedic Cristgen Graham. “In critical moments, AirLife 1 will help ensure that patients get the emergency care they need as quickly as possible. I am excited to work alongside our local first responders and healthcare teams to bring this essential service to our community.”
Air Methods also recently opened a new air medical dispatch facility in Omaha, Nebraska.
